Movable Type comment spam already?!
I don't believe it. Just 2 posts and I've already been hit by Movable type comment spam. The spammers are clever too. The first piece of comment spam hit immediately after I put up my last post. So it must have been automated somehow.
No problemo. I will deal with you spammers.
After a quick search on Google, I found this list of Movable type spam counter-measures. However, one issue is that I'm very surprised at how long the article is.
I thought I'd be able to click a single button and - voila! - goodbye Movable type comment spam! At first glance it seems more complicated than it should be.
Well as an immediate and effective anti-spam measure I am now requiring all comments on my blog to be moderated.
And I'm bookmarking this page for study next week. Among other things it explains how to blacklist the IPs of known Movable type spammers, to prevent them from ever again posting to any Movable type blog.
Yeaaaghh! Sounds good to me. Until they change IPs that is.
