The End Of Blog Comments?
Blog comment spam is not the only reason why some bloggers dislike their little comment boxes.
There are a number of bloggers who feel that there are valid reasons for disabling comments on blogs and only allowing trackback. And these reasons have nothing to do with comment spam.
The basic idea is that trackback forces a higher level of blog communication while commenting allows hasty writing and badly thought out ideas.
Although I can't deny the logic in this idea I won't be disabling comments on my blog anytime soon. Unless the spam situation becomes very very dire. Why? Because there are many many folks out there who cannot or would not want to get their own blog.
And of course you must have a blog if you want to use trackback.
So I can't exclude huge numbers of readers from leaving their comments on my blog. And realistically I think nearly all bloggers are in the exact same boat.
There are my 2 cents for now. All comments are welcome :)
