Newsflash: MS DOS Still Relevant in 21st Century!

(Shock News) DOS Batch Files Still Relevant in the 21st Century

I've discovered I can use simple Windows programming to automate some repetitive things I do, like those tons of boring FTP uploads to my servers when I make a single change to every page on my site.

And before you say: "Well why not use Server Side Includes?" bear in mind that I'd have to enter the SSI code in all my pages and then upload every single one. So FTPing loads of pages is still going to be necessary occassionally, smart ass.

Well, the best solution for that will be MS DOS batch files combined with an full-strength FTP program that allows DOS batch commands (FlashFXP). Which will let you upload stuff automatically.

This is a great, easy-to-read site on dos batch files that explains why your Windows machine mostly depends on batch files. Yes, even in 2005.
